Greetings,
As a lifelong entrepreneur, I always
strive to transcend limitations and boundaries
when --there is a good purpose to do so. When
faced with the challenge to reaching Kansas City
youth about abstinence in a fresh innovative way
... I thought, let's make a movie about it!
My idea received the expected raised eyebrows
and got a whiff of murmurous banter, but once my
vision was fully expressed, most of it
disappeared. As a first time film producer, I
assembled a team that worked for 2 years. This
group of writers, directors, producers, actors,
musicians and editors all collaborated to create
a piece of work that resonates with urban young
people, titled "Secrets." This dramatic story
hits the mark ... hard.
Let me tell you about our audience — they are
modern BET devoted, music video laden,
materialistic teens dripping with hip hop
sensibilities. These young teens actually sit
and intensely watch each scene of the movie as
though they are in the scene themselves. We did
an advance screening that revealed that even
though our production value is not that of a Tom
Cruise or Denzel Washington movie, teens relate
wholeheartedly. They get it!
The experience of making "Secrets" was wonderful
and inspiring. As we move into the next phase of
"Secrets," the launch of the movie will be to
Kansas city, then the entire state of Missouri.
I am confident that we will positively touch the
lives of over 1 million youth 10-24 in 2006.
My marketing consultants tell me that this
little independent film, has the potential to
change lives in Missouri, the nation and the
world. Wow! "Secrets" will actually exceed our
goal of positively impacting teen pregnancy,
STD's and the spread of HIV through
abstinence...throughout the globe. Double Wow!!
